Mary’s Priorities
Protect what makes La Palma special while preparing thoughtfully for what comes next.
Safe Neighborhoods & Streets
Protect the safety we value. Prepare for the challenges ahead.
Public safety is about more than responding when something goes wrong. It's about creating a community where people feel comfortable living their everyday lives.
I want children to be able to travel safely to and from schools, seniors to feel comfortable taking their morning walks, families to enjoy our parks and neighborhoods, and residents to feel confident in the public safety professionals who serve them.
That means supporting our police and fire services, paying attention to intersections where accidents repeatedly occur, maintaining safe streets and sidewalks, and preparing for changing transportation issues such as the growing use of e-bikes and other electric vehicles.
Good leadership means addressing today's concerns while anticipating tomorrow's.
A Connected Community
Local government should feel accessible to the people it serves.
One thing I've learned through years of community involvement is that residents often aren't disengaged because they don't care.
They're busy.
They're working, raising families, caring for loved ones and managing everyday life.
La Palma already provides ways for residents to find information and participate, but not everyone knows where to look or who to ask.
I want to help bridge that gap.
I want residents to feel comfortable approaching me with a concern or question. I may not always have the answer immediately, but I will listen, help find it and make sure people understand how they can participate in their city.
I may be elected by District 4, but I will serve all of La Palma.
Families & Quality of Life
Keeping La Palma a place where families can put down roots and thrive.
The City Council doesn't control our schools, but the city plays an important role in creating an environment where families and children can thrive.
Safe neighborhoods, parks, a strong library, community programs, events and thoughtful partnerships all contribute to the quality of life families experience here.
As a mother who raised three children in La Palma and spent years volunteering and working in our local schools, I care deeply about making this a community where families want to stay and future families want to put down roots.
I also believe leadership starts with listening. Today's families may face different challenges than my family did, and I want to hear from parents, educators and residents about how the city can appropriately support them.
Responsible City Government
Take care of the essentials. Spend where it matters most.
Responsible government means recognizing that there will always be more things we'd like to do than resources available to do them.
That's why priorities matter.
Safe drinking water, streets, infrastructure, public safety and reliable city services are fundamental responsibilities. As we consider investments beyond those essentials, I believe we should listen to residents, understand the tradeoffs and look for opportunities that provide meaningful benefits across our community.
When considering how city resources should be used, one question will always be at the front of my mind:
How will this benefit the people of La Palma?
Let's keep La Palma moving forward, together.
If given the opportunity to represent you on City Council:
I will listen.
I will show up.
I will ask questions.
I will make thoughtful decisions.
And I will always remember who I'm there to represent:
You.
